Solar Upgrade & Repowering Projects

Arrays age, households grow, and the original installer is often long gone. We take on systems somebody else built: adding capacity for an EV or a heat pump, replacing inverters that have reached end of life, retrofitting monitoring so faults surface early, and diagnosing the gradual underperformance that owners usually do not notice until we measure it.

Owner-side project advisory, coordination and administration from planning through closeout. Gridless organizes the people, information, documentation, budgets and decisions, while appropriately licensed contractors and professionals remain responsible for regulated work.

What we organize

What Gridless helps organize on your project

Talk to a project advisor
01

Capacity expansion

Additional modules and the electrical work to support them, checked against service and interconnection limits first.

02

Inverter replacement

String and micro-inverter replacement when the original reaches end of life, typically after ten to fifteen years.

03

Monitoring retrofit

Module-level electronics that turn a silent array into one that reports faults the week they occur.

04

Battery retrofit

AC-coupled storage added to an existing array without replacing what already works.

05

Performance diagnostics

IV curve tracing, thermal imaging and string testing to find the exact cause of lost output.

06

Orphaned system adoption

We take over management of systems whose original installer has gone, including tracing what warranty cover still survives and who now holds it.

How we work

A sequence that keeps the project honest

  1. 01

    Measure

Actual output is compared against modelled expectation.

  2. 02

    Diagnose

Thermal and electrical testing isolates the real fault.

  3. 03

    Plan

Repair, expansion and modernisation options priced side by side.

  4. 04

    Upgrade

Work completed with minimal array downtime.

  5. 05

    Verify

Post-work production confirms the gain was real.

Common questions

Something not covered here? Ask us directly - we would rather answer it properly than have you guess.

Ask a question
My production dropped. What causes that?
Most often a failed optimiser or micro-inverter, a tripped string, soiling, or new shading from tree growth. Occasionally it is module degradation. A diagnostic visit by a licensed technician settles it rather than guesswork.
Can I add panels to an old system?
Usually, though it depends on inverter headroom, service capacity and your interconnection agreement. Where mixing old and new modules is a problem, a separate string with its own inverter is often the cleaner answer.
Can you take on a system another company installed?
Routinely. A large share of the programmes we manage are on arrays installed by companies that are no longer trading.

Let us start with the numbers

A measured energy analysis tells you which improvements actually pay, and in what order. It is the cheapest thing we do and the most useful place to begin.

  • No-obligation consultation and budget guidance
  • Independent - we answer to you, not to a contractor
  • Incentives handled, permits tracked for you
  • Warranty paperwork collected and registered in your name
