Microgrid Projects

A microgrid is the difference between an outage being an inconvenience and an outage being a catastrophe. It is also a controls problem, a tariff problem and a procurement problem at the same time. Gridless Global gives the owner one coordinated project process: objectives documented, proposals organized and compared, utility and stakeholder communications coordinated, interfaces, risks and decisions tracked, and commissioning and closeout records collected. Engineering, protection and controls design, code determinations and installation are performed by the appropriately licensed professionals and contractors engaged for the project.

Owner-side project advisory, coordination and administration from planning through closeout. Gridless organizes the people, information, documentation, budgets and decisions, while appropriately licensed contractors and professionals remain responsible for regulated work.

What we organize

What Gridless helps organize on your project

Talk to a project advisor
01

Resilience assessment

We map critical, deferrable and sheddable loads, quantify what an outage actually costs you per hour, and size the system against that number.

02

Microgrid controller

The intelligence layer: dispatch optimisation, automatic islanding and reconnection, load shedding hierarchy and forecast-aware scheduling.

03

Distribution & switching

Medium-voltage loops, automatic transfer and sectionalising switchgear, protective relaying and arc-flash studies.

04

Multi-asset integration

Solar, storage, CHP, hydro, generators and controllable loads brought under one control scheme instead of five separate ones.

05

Grid services participation

While connected, the same assets earn demand response, capacity and ancillary services revenue instead of sitting idle.

06

Operations & drills

Remote monitoring, scheduled island transfer testing and operator training so the system works the day you actually need it.

How we work

A sequence that keeps the project honest

  1. 01

    Assess

Critical loads and outage cost are quantified before anything is specified.

  2. 02

    Architect

Generation mix, storage duration and switching topology designed as one system.

  3. 03

    Integrate

Controller tied to every asset, with tested fallback behaviour.

  4. 04

    Prove

Live island transfer testing under load before the system is accepted.

  5. 05

    Operate

Monitored continuously, with periodic drills that verify readiness.

Common questions

Something not covered here? Ask us directly - we would rather answer it properly than have you guess.

Ask a question
How is a microgrid different from a backup generator?
A generator sits idle until something breaks, then carries the load at high fuel cost. A microgrid runs every day - cutting demand charges, arbitraging tariffs and earning grid-service revenue - and islands automatically when the utility fails. It pays for itself between emergencies rather than only during them.
How long can a microgrid run islanded?
Indefinitely, if the generation mix supports it. A solar-plus-storage microgrid with a fuel-based backstop can hold critical loads for days or weeks; a storage-only design is usually engineered for a defined window, commonly four to twenty-four hours.
Do we need utility approval?
Yes, and it is a core part of our scope. Islanding requires an interconnection agreement that covers protection settings, anti-islanding and reconnection procedure. We drive that process on your behalf.

How licensed work is handled

Gridless Global provides owner-side advisory, project-administration and coordination services. Gridless does not perform regulated trade or professional work. Construction, installation, engineering and other services requiring licensure are separately performed by appropriately licensed independent professionals responsible for their own work. The scope Gridless can offer varies by jurisdiction.

Next step

Let us start with the numbers

A measured energy analysis tells you which improvements actually pay, and in what order. It is the cheapest thing we do and the most useful place to begin.

  • No-obligation consultation and budget guidance
  • Independent - we answer to you, not to a contractor
  • Incentives handled, permits tracked for you
  • Warranty paperwork collected and registered in your name
